“When teachers are equipped with innovative tools and strategies, they become catalysts for transforming how students experience and understand mathematics.”

Mobile Web Ghana, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Ghana through American Corner Agbogba, successfully empowered over 80 mathematics teachers from the Ga East, La-Nkwantanang, and Adenta Education Directorates through the Equipped Math Teacher Conference 2026.
The conference was organized to strengthen mathematics education by equipping educators with innovative, learner-centered teaching approaches that make mathematics more engaging, practical, and accessible for students.
Held under the theme, “Integrating Play-Based Learning in Mathematics: Making Mathematics Enjoyable, Relatable, and Anxiety-Free for Learners,” the conference responded to the need for teachers to gain exposure to modern teaching frameworks that encourage creativity, active participation, and deeper understanding among learners.
The event was opened by Madam Florence Toffa, Director of Mobile Web Ghana and American Corner Agbogba, who highlighted the essential role of teachers in shaping future STEM leaders. She emphasized that investing in teacher development creates a lasting impact by improving learning outcomes for generations of students.
“Teachers are at the heart of educational transformation. By equipping them with practical, innovative, and learner-centered teaching approaches, we are creating a ripple effect that will positively impact thousands of students across our communities,” Madam Florence Toffa noted.
The conference was facilitated by Dr. Gloria Agyeiwaa Antwi Botchway, a distinguished mathematics lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Ghana, and co-facilitated by Dr. Millicent Narh-Kent, Lecturer at the Department of Education, University of Ghana.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions focused on play-based learning, effective mathematics teaching strategies, assessment approaches, digital resources integration, and hands-on classroom activities. These sessions equipped teachers with practical tools to transform traditional mathematics lessons into more engaging and student-centered learning experiences.
Through collaborative activities and knowledge sharing, teachers explored ways to reduce mathematics anxiety, encourage problem-solving skills, and help learners connect mathematical concepts to everyday life.
The conference forms part of the continued commitment of Mobile Web Ghana, the U.S. Embassy Ghana, American Corner Agbogba, and Academic City University toward promoting STEM education, digital literacy, and professional development for educators.
By empowering over 80 teachers with modern instructional strategies, the initiative created a multiplier effect ensuring that educators return to their classrooms better prepared to inspire students, strengthen foundational numeracy skills, and nurture the next generation of innovators.
Through programs like the Equipped Math Teacher Conference 2026, Mobile Web Ghana and the U.S. Embassy Ghana continue to support education initiatives that transform classrooms, empower teachers, and build stronger STEM pathways for young learners across Ghana.
