American Corner Agbogba Equips Young Ghanaians with AI Skills Through American Excellence in Technology and Artificial Intelligence Program

July 16, 2026 by

Mobile Web Ghana, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Ghana through American Corner Agbogba, successfully hosted the American Excellence in Technology and Artificial Intelligence program, bringing together students, educators, and professionals to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its responsible application.

The session commenced with welcoming remarks from Hannah Fitter, Regional Public Engagement Specialist (REPS) for the West and Coastal Regions of Africa at the U.S. Department of State. She highlighted the United States’ continued leadership in technology and AI innovation and emphasized the importance of equipping young people with the digital skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven world. She also reaffirmed the U.S. government’s commitment to promoting innovation, education, and responsible technology use through partnerships such as the American Corner network.

The technical sessions were co-facilitated by Florence Toffa, Director of Mobile Web Ghana and American Corner Agbogba, and Hannah Fitter.

Florence Toffa led participants through a practical and interactive session on Prompt Engineering, demonstrating how thoughtfully designed prompts can significantly improve the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of AI-generated responses. Participants explored techniques for crafting prompts that support learning, research, creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving.

Hannah Fitter facilitated an engaging session on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence, discussing ethical AI practices, critical thinking, data privacy, bias awareness, and the importance of using AI responsibly to support informed decision-making and innovation.

The program brought together participants from a range of educational institutions, including Pilot Technical Institute, Hope-Life Institute, Ghana TVET Headquarters, Accra College of Education, Kanda Technical Institute, Government Technical Institute, and several other schools across Greater Accra. The interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations encouraged participants to explore practical applications of AI while exchanging ideas with peers and facilitators.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to transform industries, American Corner Agbogba remains committed to preparing young Ghanaians with future-ready digital skills. Through its partnership with the U.S. Embassy Ghana, the Corner continues to create opportunities that inspire innovation, strengthen digital inclusion, and empower young people to become responsible creators and leaders in the AI era.

American Corner Agbogba extends its sincere appreciation to the U.S. Embassy Ghana, Hannah Fitter, Florence Toffa, the participating institutions, and all attendees for making the program a success.
