In today’s rapidly evolving world, access to STEAM education plays a critical role in preparing young people for emerging careers and technological advancement. At American Corner Agbogba we committed to exposing students early to the tools, ideas, and skills that will shape the future. This commitment came to life during an engaging STEAM + Robotics session that introduced students to the exciting intersection of science, creativity, and technology.
The session brought together students from Umar Buna Tab Islamic School, Preset Pacesetter Senior High School, and Newells Academy, creating an inspiring learning environment where curiosity met hands-on exploration.

Encouraging Innovation Through Hands-On Learning
The session was facilitated by George Sarfo, founder of Firefly IO, who guided students through an interactive introduction to robotics and STEAM education.
Rather than focusing only on theory, the session encouraged students to learn by doing: exploring how technology works and how it can be used to solve real-world problems. Participants were introduced to foundational concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) while learning how robotics integrates these disciplines to drive innovation.
Through demonstrations and practical discussions, students learned:
- How robots are designed and programmed
- The role of sensors, electronics, and coding in robotics
- How creativity and engineering work together in problem-solving
- The growing importance of digital and technical skills in today’s world
For many students, the session provided their first exposure to robotics, sparking excitement and curiosity about careers in science and technology.

Advancing Opportunities Through American Spaces
Programs like this highlight the impact of the American Spaces network, supported by the U.S. Embassy Ghana, which works to expand access to knowledge, innovation, and global opportunities.
As a partnership between the U.S. Embassy Ghana and Mobile Web Ghana, American Corner Agbogba continues to serve as a hub for educational and technology-driven programs that empower young people with critical skills for the 21st century.
By hosting STEAM-focused initiatives, the Corner helps students:
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Build confidence in exploring science and technology
- Discover future career pathways in STEM fields
- Gain exposure to global ideas and innovation
By connecting students with facilitators like George Sarfo, American Corner Agbogba continues to nurture the next generation of problem solvers, innovators, and leaders.
