If your body could speak, would it thank you for how you treat it during the workday or complain?
At our Workplace Wellness session held at American Corner Agbogba, we explored this question together. Whether you are an employee, entrepreneur, or manager, the lessons from this session are designed to help you work better, feel better, and protect your long-term health.
We were joined by teams from Practical Education Network, Farm Radio, Ark Foundation, Conservation Alliance, and several entrepreneurs who were all eager to improve their work habits.
The session was led by Madam Vivian Akoueba Adonie, CEO of Pamper Me Beauty Spa and Co-Founder of The Lily Project Ghana.

A Fun Start: “Who’s in the Room” Icebreaker
We began with a fun and creative activity: each participant drew the face of the person sitting next to them!
The room immediately filled with laughter as people compared their drawings : some surprisingly good, some wonderfully funny :but all helping to build connection and set a relaxed tone for the wellness experience.
Take a look at some of the fun photos below!

Participants were also introduced to the resources available at the Corner by the American Corner,Agbogba : digital tools, books, training sessions, and opportunities for skill-building through the partnership between Mobile Web Ghana and the U.S. Embassy Ghana.

Key Lessons You Can Apply to Your Own Workday
This session wasn’t just fun : it was packed with tips you can start using immediately.
1. Your Body Deserves Attention During Work
We often focus so much on deadlines and tasks that we forget about our bodies.
But your body is the engine that gets the work done. What this means for you:
- Pay attention to how you sit.
- Notice when your shoulders are tense.
- Give yourself small moments to reset.
A healthier body supports a more productive day.
2. Simple Self-Massage Techniques Make a Big Difference
Madam Vivian taught practical self-massage techniques that anyone can do, even at their desk.
Benefits you get:
- Instant stress relief
- Less stiffness in your neck, shoulders, and back
- Better focus
- A calmer mind
Try this:
Take one minute to gently massage your shoulders or the back of your neck.
It’s quick and it works.
3. Your Posture Shapes Your Energy
Many people discovered during the session that they weren’t sitting correctly and didn’t realize how much it was affecting their comfort and energy.
Good posture helps you:
- Reduce back and neck pain
- Breathe better
- Stay more alert
- Protect your spine
- Avoid long-term health problems
Tip:
Sit upright, shoulders relaxed, feet flat on the floor.
Your body will feel the difference.
4. Breaks Aren’t a Luxury ! They’re Smart Work Habits
A major reminder from the session: rest is part of productivity.
When you take breaks, you:
- Think more clearly
- Reduce stress
- Improve creativity
- Protect your eyes and posture
- Maintain steady energy all day

Try this:
Every hour, take a short break : even 30 seconds to breathe or stretch helps.
Workplace wellness isn’t about big shifts : it’s about the simple habits you practice every day. How you sit, how you relax, how you breathe, and how you care for your body all play a role in your productivity and well-being.
