For many students, subjects like science and physics can sometimes feel very theoretical. They read about circuits, current, and components in textbooks, draw diagrams in their notebooks, and memorize definitions but rarely get the chance to see or build these things themselves.
At American Corner Agbogba, we wanted to change that.
We recently hosted a hands-on session titled “Introduction to Electronics Through the DEXT Learning Kit.” Instead of only talking about circuits, students built them. Instead of imagining how components work, they connected and tested them on their own.
The session was facilitated by Richmond Adu-Kyere, Co-Founder and CTO of Dimarak Company Limited, who guided students step by step through the basics of electronics.

Each participating schools were:
- Newells Academy – Adenta
- Brookwood Hill School – Obojo
- Umar Bun Hatab Islamic School – Madina
During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of electrical engineering in a simple and practical way. They learned how circuits are formed, how electricity flows, and how different components work together. More importantly, they experienced it for themselves.

The room was filled with curiosity, excitement, and teamwork as students worked together to solve problems and complete their tasks. You could see the confidence grow as they realized they could actually build and understand what once seemed complicated.

The session featured remarks from Madam Florence Toffa, the director of Mobile Web Ghana and American Corner,Agbogba who encouraged all students to actively engage in STEM, with special emphasis on female students. She highlighted the importance of women participating in electrical engineering and assured them that their ideas and creativity are crucial to the innovation Ghana needs.
This session was not just about learning electronics for a day. It was about preparing students for future career paths in STEM. It was about planting a seed encouraging them to see themselves as engineers, innovators, and creators.
Ghana needs creative problem-solvers. Ghana needs young people who can build, design, and innovate. And moments like this help start that journey.
At American Corner Agbogba, we remain committed to turning theory into practical experience and empowering the next generation with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
