Students Explore AI-Powered Comic Creation at American Corner Agbogba

May 20, 2025 by

Many students love comics. Few realize they can use AI to  create them and even fewer know they can earn from it. According to the World Economic Forum, 85 million jobs may be displaced by machines by 2025—but 97 million new roles will emerge, many demanding creativity and tech-savviness. At American Corner Agbogba, we’re preparing students to step into those roles with confidence.

On May 16, 2025, American Corner Agbogba hosted an AI-Assisted Comic Workshop for Schools part of the ongoing Capacity Building Series. The event brought together students from four junior high schools including Haatso Calvary Presby,Holy Rosary RIC J.H.S, Christ Faith Mission J.H.S and  Amrahia ADMA J.H.S.  The session immersed  them in a hands-on experience that combined Artificial Intelligence, digital storytelling, and practical tech skills.

The session opened with remarks from Madam Florence Toffa, CEO of Mobile Web Ghana. She encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity, saying:

Don’t trivialize the exposure and the opportunities your schools are giving you. Use it for your personal growth and for the greater good of your communities.” Her words set the tone for a session built on discovery, purpose, and empowerment.

Ever Heard of Prompt Engineering? These Students Just Mastered It!

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Ekow Arthur, Founder of Ekow Krations Art, who brought a blend of artistic passion and technical skill to the classroom. He guided the students through the world of prompt engineering—teaching them how to craft meaningful prompts for ChatGPT to develop storylines, characters, and dialogue. With Canva, the students transformed their AI-generated content into visually engaging comic strips.

One student shared:

“The most valuable part of the session is that I can create a story on my own.”

Another added:

“Practising how to use Canva to create comics made the storytelling come alive.”

Did You Know That Storytelling and Comics Can Be a Source of Income?

Beyond the art of storytelling, the workshop emphasized the economic potential of these newly acquired skills. Students were introduced to real-world opportunities to monetize their creations through digital platforms—opening their eyes to how AI and content creation can serve as a viable income stream. Whether through freelance comic design, content writing, or visual storytelling, the message was clear: creativity powered by technology can pay off.

This workshop is a strong example of how American Spaces like American Corner Agbogba, are preparing young minds to thrive in the digital age. By merging AI education with creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, we’re helping students build the confidence and skills to shape their future. Mobile Web Ghana in partnership with the U.S Embassy Ghana  looks forward to expanding this initiative to reach more schools across the region.
